East-West Center Association (EWCA) is an international network of professionals who have an affiliation with the East-West Center and are dedicated to its mission of promoting better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific.
The EWCA Executive Board members provide leadership to the EWCA network.
Specific Duties:
Provide leadership and support to the EWCA by establishing and supporting organizational priorities, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement (OAE), that align with the EWC strategic plan
Actively participate in quarterly board meetings by developing meeting agendas that represent key issues in the network
Lead, co-lead, or join EWCA Executive Board Committees
Intentionally recruit to diversify members on the board and membership participation (i.e.: year, gender, professional sector, program, location, background).
Serve as a liaison between EWCA members and the OAE staff, including providing accurate and timely information and feedback between members and staff
Serve as a representative of the EWCA at relevant events
Intentionally connect EWC alumni to the EWCA network who may not otherwise be aware of regional chapter or activities and actively support EWCA Chapters by encouraging and promoting their activities, including sending (or forwarding EWC or EWCA) emails to interested parties and organizations and posting activity notices on social media channels to broaden the reach of the EWCA activities
Demonstrate the importance of donating to the East-West Center (includes time, talent, treasure or technical skills). The Executive Board Member is encouraged to identify and contact at least two, non-EWC organizations/companies each year to see if they are interested in supporting EWC or EWCA activities through talent, treasure, or technical skills.
Serve as a network weaver to connect people and organizations/companies within and outside the EWCA network to EWCA members and initiatives to foster partnerships and collaborations
Engage in regular communication with the OAE staff
Time Commitment:
The position requires approximately 5 hours a month
Term Limit and Requirements:
Nominees are selected by the Nominations Committee and approved by the board, then voted on by Chapters via Chapter Leaders. Members serve a three-year term renewable for a second term.
